‘Debut’ HORI7ON, the Expansion and New Possibility of K-Pop

HORI7ON

A K-pop idol group composed entirely of Filipino members has been born. The group, HORI7ON, underwent Korean-style training and is now setting their sights on the Korean stage. How will these artists expand the scope of K-pop and showcase new possibilities?

HORI7ON (VINCI, JEROMY, MARCUS, KYLER, REYSTER, WINSTON, KIM) held a debut showcase for their first full-length album ‘Friend-SHIP’ at Olympic Hall, Olympic Park, Seoul, on the 24th.

Their title track ‘SIX7EEN’ is an impressive song with an addictive melody and a catchy chorus with slap bass, encapsulating the energy of talented teenagers with their perfect hexagon abilities.

HORI7ON, composed entirely of Filipino members, was selected through the joint Korean-Philippine audition program ‘Dream Maker’ and has embarked on the world stage after going through K-training. They have already hinted at active promotions as K-idols in Korea and will continue to shine on stages worldwide, including the Philippines.

The members of HORI7ON expressed their debut impressions, saying, “Today is the day our journey begins. We are very grateful to those who came to support us for this new journey,” and they added, “For this journey, we poured our souls into it. We ask for your continued interest.”

For their Korean activities, HORI7ON also prepared their title track ‘SIX7EEN’ with Korean lyrics. Leader VINCI mentioned, “At first, it was difficult to pronounce, but everyone mastered it in time with great effort.”

In particular, during their performance, the members managed to incorporate short Korean phrases such as “Thank you,” “Hello,” and “HORI7ON until now,” and they made an effort to communicate using Korean words like “senior” and counting in Korean, “hana, dul, set.”

The album also includes tracks that maximize the individual charms of the members, including solo songs and collaborations with their agency colleagues Lapillus HAEUN, TFN LEO, and NOA on ‘How You Feel’ and ‘Bonnie & Clyde,’ ‘Light Way,’ and more, representing diverse genres. Lapillus HAEUN also showed extraordinary affection by performing unit songs together on the showcase stage.

HORI7ON emphasized their strengths, saying, “We came from a survival show. All seven members were born from the luck and votes of the people. Everyone had dreams of K-pop, so our passion and energy to achieve that are different.”

As a group composed entirely of foreign members with no Koreans, HORI7ON emphasized their identity as a ‘K-pop idol’ and aims to conquer the Korean stage. Amid K-pop’s global popularity, the attention is on how this expanded form of K-pop idol, HORI7ON, will be evaluated on the domestic stage.

Meanwhile, HORI7ON released their debut full-length album ‘Friend-SHIP’ through various online music sites at 6 p.m. on the same day.
