Studio Dragon’s ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’ Ranks 3rd Globally in Netflix Viewing Hours for Second Half of 2025

Studio Dragon’s drama ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’ ranked third globally in viewing hours among all Netflix series in the second half of 2025.

According to the Netflix Engagement Report titled “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report” released on the 21st, ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’ recorded 588.3 million viewing hours for this period. This achievement follows ‘Wednesday Season 2’ (1st place with 964.1 million hours) and ‘Stranger Things Season 5’ (2nd place with 879.7 million hours), indicating the global popularity of ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’.

Premiered in August last year through tvN, TVING, and Netflix, ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’ is a romantic comedy where the best chef travels back in time to meet a tyrannical king with a perfect palate. Its unique storyline combining time travel fantasy, romance, and traditional Korean cuisine captivated audiences worldwide, surpassing 100 million accumulated viewing hours on Netflix within just three weeks of its release. The final episode recorded a 20% viewership rating on tvN, making it the most talked-about production of 2025.

Studio Dragon, supplying content across various domestic and international platforms, has proven its production competitiveness by consistently creating mega-hit K-dramas. In the first half of 2023, Netflix’s series ‘The Glory’ ranked third in viewing hours (622.8 million) and became a global sensation. In the first half of 2024, ‘Queen of Tears’ also reached third place in viewing hours (682.6 million), showcasing the essence of K-romance.

A Studio Dragon representative stated, “This year’s OTT original series will include ‘Yumi’s Cells Season 3’ and ‘Becoming a Legend in the Kitchen’ on TVING, ‘Discipline,’ ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class,’ and ‘Slowly But Surely’ on Netflix, and ‘Goldland’ on Disney+, all set for global release,” and added, “We plan to continue strengthening our position as a powerhouse of well-made content in the K-drama industry.”
