It has a history spanning over 40 years since its inception in 1984 and awards are presented in approximately 24 categories. This year&#8217;s event will be held on September 12th at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is anticipation as to whether BLACKPINK can take home the trophy at this year&#8217;s &#8216;MTV VMAs&#8217; for the second consecutive year. In 2020, when they were nominated for the first time, they won in the &#8216;Song of the Summer&#8217; category with &#8216;How You Like That&#8217;.
