AKMU terminated their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment at the end of December and will establish an independent company with their long-time manager from YG.<\/p>\n
A music industry insider told Xportsnews at the time that Lee Chanhyuk, Lee Suhyun, and Executive Producer Yang Hyun-suk had met for a meal months prior. The insider added that Yang, who had closely overseen the siblings for 12 years, reportedly supported their independence, suggesting that free activities in a new environment would be another catalyst for AKMU’s growth.<\/p>\n
YG Entertainment also announced the termination of their contract with AKMU through an official statement, noting that both sides decided to part ways after in-depth discussions.<\/p>\n
Lee Chanhyuk recently showed his loyalty by attending the wedding of the manager with whom he is launching the new venture, performing a celebratory song at the event. He willingly attended the wedding held in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do, and performed “Love is Endangered,” drawing attention with a splendid stage featuring a saxophonist, choreographers, and others, creating a performance as grand as an awards ceremony.<\/p>\n
