Red Velvet’s Wendy revealed her experience with racism during her studies in Canada.<\/p>\n

On the 26th, YouTube channel ‘Goeun Sister Han Go-eun’ posted an episode titled ‘Wendy’s Shocking Experience Studying Abroad from Being Bullied in America to Becoming Top of Her Class | Goeun Guest EP.7’.<\/p>\n

In the episode, Han Go-eun met with Red Velvet’s Wendy for a chat. Both having spent their school days abroad, they reminisced about their past experiences.<\/p>\n

Surprised by Wendy’s story of picking up English within a month despite not knowing the language, Han Go-eun expressed curiosity, asking, “Did you start hearing and understanding words that quickly?”<\/p>\n

Wendy replied, “Being the only Asian, people found me intriguing, and I communicated using body language.” She added, “After a month, I began speaking and understanding English. School in Brockville was very fun,” recalling her time studying there.<\/p>\n

Later, after moving from Brockville to the larger city of Toronto, Wendy remarked on the difference, saying, “The English level was different, and the kids were more mature and diverse, making it hard for me to fit in.”<\/p>\n

Wendy confessed, “That’s when I experienced racism and started eating in the bathroom because no one included me,” adding that when she asked to join, “they said, ‘No, you can’t. You’re Korean.'” This past experience of racial discrimination was heartbreaking.<\/p>\n

Wendy also shared, “I even reported the discrimination to the teacher, but I never received an apology. After that, I spent more time alone, often crying in my closet.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
