The ‘2025 MAMA Awards’ will proceed as planned.

The ‘2025 MAMA Awards’ will be held over two days from the 28th to the 29th at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.

On the 28th, the production team told Xports News, “The red carpet event has been canceled, but the main awards ceremony will be broadcast live at the scheduled time.”

Previously, on the 26th (local time) at 2:52 p.m., a major fire broke out at the ‘Wang Fuk Court’, a residential high-rise apartment complex in the northern Tai Po district of Hong Kong, resulting in 83 confirmed deaths so far.

Due to the large fire, the possibility of cancelling the event was discussed, but on the 27th, the ‘MAMA’ officials expressed their determination to proceed, stating, “We are carefully preparing the overall stage setup and proceedings to deliver a performance that conveys consolation and hope rather than extravagant production.”

Additionally, they announced some changes in special effects and stage configuration, saying, “The ‘2025 MAMA Awards’ will incorporate a ‘Support Hong Kong’ message to share in the grief and provide a moment of remembrance, and we aim to contribute support through donations to aid the victims.”

Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun-fat, who were initially slated to present awards, will not attend. Given their powerful status as top stars in Hong Kong, they decided not to attend the ‘2025 MAMA Awards’ considering the local atmosphere following the significant number of fatalities from the Hong Kong fire.
