Actress Arden Cho is making her presence felt on the global stage.
Arden Cho, who stars in the Netflix animated film ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ (referred to as ‘KDH’), won Best Vocal Performance in Animation or Mixed Media at the 2025 North Carolina Film Critics Association (NCFCA) Awards on January 26. The award recognizes her exceptional voice acting as the character ‘Rumi’ in the film.
Despite this being her first voice acting role, Arden Cho impressed both critics and audiences by skillfully expressing the character’s emotions and personality. She was particularly praised for naturally capturing scenes with Korean sentiments and humorous details, which increased the film’s immersion.
In this category, other notable nominees included May Hong, who voiced Mira of the popular girl group Huntrix in ‘KDH’; Ji-young Yoo as the voice of the youngest member Joy; and actors Jason Bateman and Ke Huy Quan from ‘Zootopia 2’. Ultimately, Arden Cho received the honor.
The North Carolina Film Critics Association Awards is a significant ceremony that reflects critical perspectives and regional contributions within the American film criticism scene. It is an important indicator for film enthusiasts and industry professionals, as it coincides with the Oscar season, showcasing which works are highly regarded by critics each year.
Arden Cho expressed her thoughts on the win, stating, “This award is not just my achievement but a result created collaboratively with my fellow actors, the production team, and the fans who believed in and supported me to the end. I aspire to be an actor who delivers a ‘resonance’ that remains in people’s hearts through my voice and acting.”
