Actress Bae Doona has been appointed as a jury member for the 76th Berlin International Film Festival.
The Berlin International Film Festival announced its seven-member jury panel, including Bae Doona, on the 28th (local time).
The jury president is German director Wim Wenders, and the panel includes director Min Bahadur Bham from Nepal, Japanese director Hikari, and Polish producer Ewa Puszczyńska.
The seven jury members will judge 22 films in the competition, including the prestigious Golden Bear award.
This marks the third time a Korean film figure has been appointed as a jury member for the festival’s competition section.

Previously, actress Lee Young-ae in 2006 and director Bong Joon-ho in 2015 served as jury members.
According to the festival, Bae Doona is considered one of Korea’s leading actors and has won numerous prestigious awards such as the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best New Actress and the Asian Film Award for Best Actress. Her notable works include “Barking Dogs Never Bite” (2000), “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance” (2002), and “The Host” (2006).
Although no Korean films have entered the competition section of this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, director Hong Sang-soo’s new film “Walk Up” is invited to the Panorama section, director Jung Ji-young’s “My Name Is” is selected for the Forum section, and director Yoo Jae-in’s feature debut “The Road to Utara” will be screened in the youth-targeted “Generation 14plus” section.
The 76th Berlin International Film Festival will be held from February 12 to 22 in Berlin, Germany.
