BLACKPINK’s Jennie Acquires Yongsan Building for 20 Billion Won

BLACKPINK member Jennie has acquired a building in Yongsan, Seoul, valued at 20 billion won.

On the 11th, Korea Economic TV reported that Jennie purchased a building located in Dongbinggo-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, for 20 billion won in May of last year, with the ownership transfer completed in December of the same year. The report cited sources in the investment banking and real estate industries.

The building, completed in 1970, is situated in the northern part of Dongbinggo-dong, an area known for its concentration of embassy residences. It has a land area of 595㎡ and a total floor area of 551.08㎡, comprising a two-story structure with one basement level. Currently, it serves as the Iraqi Embassy, and its price is estimated at approximately 111 million won per pyeong.

The Dongbinggo-dong area is undergoing significant development, linked to the redevelopment of nearby Hannam New Town and the creation of Yongsan Park. To the south, the redevelopment of Hannam District 5 is in progress. Additionally, the U.S. military transport site is being transformed into a luxury residential complex. This site, along with the United Nations Command site and the planned Camp Kim development, is considered one of the three major former U.S. military return sites in the area.

Jennie’s substantial real estate investments in the Yongsan-gu area have garnered significant attention. In 2023, she also acquired a luxury villa in UN Village for 5 billion won, reportedly paid entirely in cash. Last year, she leased an entire new building in Hannam-dong to establish her one-person agency, Odd Atelier (OA). It is presumed that the recently acquired building was also purchased entirely in cash, as no separate mortgage is registered on the title deed.

Regarding the purchase, Jennie’s agency, Odd Atelier (OA), provided a cautious response to Xportsnews on the 11th, stating, “We ask for your understanding as we cannot confirm this information, as it concerns the artist’s private life.”

Meanwhile, Jennie is preparing for a comeback with BLACKPINK’s third mini-album, ‘DEADLINE,’ scheduled for release on the 27th.
