BTS is experiencing some turbulence ahead of their complete reunion in 2026.
On December 6, RM conducted a live broadcast on the fan communication platform Weverse.
As the leader of the team, RM stated, “I can no longer represent the team as I am just one human being.” He added, “While I felt like a leader from around 2017 to 2018, now each member is an individual with their own boundaries and lifestyle, so I can’t apply the same leadership style anymore.”
RM explained that there were many crises that could have suspended team activities and why they did not make a complete group comeback in the second half of the year.
Previously, BTS completed their military service in June but continued with individual activities instead of a full group comeback in the second half.
“Many people ask why we ‘wasted’ the second half of 2025 and didn’t do anything,” RM admitted. “We didn’t want that either. I wanted to do a lot of activities after being discharged, but there are things I can’t disclose, and there were reasons we decided not to be active in the latter half of the year. I don’t have the right to say everything.”
RM also mentioned, “Of course, we’ve changed, and so have you. It’s sensitive to say too much about it, but we have to move on. I’ve contemplated thousands of times whether it’s better to disband or pause the team. Continuing the team is possible because of our love for each other and the respect and love we have for our fans.”
He conveyed his apologies to the fans, emphasizing that the comeback “is not far away,” and said, “We can’t make a comeback easily until we’re satisfied with what we present. We have many things to consider. I’m sorry to make excuses; it might not be what you want, but we’ll do our best.”
Meanwhile, dating rumors between member Jungkook and aespa member Winter have spread. Their matching dog tattoo on their forearms is highlighted as evidence of their relationship.
Additionally, Jungkook was spotted at an aespa concert, and during a live broadcast, Winter mentioned ‘Jeon Jungkook’ (Jungkook’s real name), causing Karina to be surprised. Couple rings, in-ear monitors, and similar nail art further fueled the rumors.
Both agencies have yet to issue any statements, leading to speculation that the relationship is acknowledged unofficially.
Meanwhile, BTS is preparing for a full group album release and world tour next spring.
