A Chinese influencer sparked controversy by pretending to be BLACKPINK member Rosé.
According to Malaysian entertainment media Hype on the 15th, Chinese influencer Daisy was invited to Rosé’s popup store closing event in Qingdao, China, earlier this month.
The event centered around the sale of Rosé’s official merchandise and featured a themed photo zone. However, controversy arose when the host introduced Daisy as the main guest, which upset many fans.
At the event, Daisy took photos with fans and even signed Rosé’s official merchandise. She also wore outfits similar to Rosé’s usual style, drawing criticism.
Some fans expressed discomfort, saying, “For someone unaware, it might look like Rosé herself attended the event,” and “The focus of the event shifted.” As the controversy grew, Daisy issued a statement on her social media.
Daisy explained, “I felt the need to clarify after hearing about the controversy following the event,” adding, “I participated at the shopping mall’s invitation, and everything was coordinated with the organizers in advance.” She further clarified, “All my actions were intended to promote Rosé, and I received no monetary compensation.”
She also stated, “I fully recognize that Rosé and the fans should be the priority,” adding, “I reflect on the parts that might have appeared inappropriate and will act more cautiously in the future.”
