Expelled NewJeans Member Danielle Appoints Legal Counsel to Respond to 43.1 Billion Won Compensation Lawsuit

다니엘. 엑스포츠뉴스 DB.

According to Xportsnews, Danielle, a member expelled from NewJeans after receiving a contract termination notice from ADOR, is immediately responding to a compensation lawsuit.

On the 31st, legal sources reported that Danielle appointed a legal representative and submitted a power of attorney regarding a compensation claim lawsuit seeking approximately 43.1 billion won.

The lawsuit, filed by ADOR against Danielle, one of her family members, and Min Hee-jin, the former CEO of ADOR, for penalty and compensation claims, has been assigned to the Seoul Central District Court’s 31st Civil Settlement Division (Chief Judge Nam In-soo).

ADOR has claimed approximately 43.1 billion won in damages against Danielle and others, and the court has not yet set the first trial date.

Danielle’s swift filing of a response following ADOR’s announcement has drawn increased attention to her future actions.

Meanwhile, on the 29th, ADOR officially announced the progress of discussions regarding the return of NewJeans members. Hanni has decided to return to ADOR, and Minji is still in discussions. Danielle received a notice of contract termination from ADOR.

Citing difficulties in continuing activities as a five-member group, ADOR stated, “We have determined it is difficult to proceed with Danielle as both a NewJeans member and an ADOR artist, and have therefore issued a contract termination notice today. ADOR will hold Danielle’s family member and former CEO Min Hee-jin, who are responsible for causing this dispute and delaying NewJeans’ return, legally accountable.”

ADOR further explained Danielle’s breach of contract, stating, “Exclusive contracts are based on mutual understanding. In Danielle’s situation, she acted contrary to the exclusive contract.” The agency added, “Examples include signing other contracts, engaging in independent entertainment activities, or actions damaging the honor and credit of the group NewJeans, all of which constitute violations of the exclusive contract.”

Danielle, who garnered significant attention for the anticipated substantial penalty amount following her expulsion from NewJeans, also volunteered at a coal service site on the day ADOR announced her contract termination, drawing further public interest. Danielle’s future actions and Minji’s final decision remain in focus.
