Singer G-Dragon demonstrated his enduring prominence, securing three of the four grand prizes at the ‘MMA2025’ awards.
The 2025 Melon Music Awards (The 17th Melon Music Awards, ‘MMA2025’) took place on the 20th at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome. Actress Park Eun-bin and singer Yoon Jong-shin presented the grand prizes.
G-Dragon, who received ‘Album of the Year’ for ‘Ubermensch,’ his first solo release in eight years, stated, “I’m still dizzy from just finishing the stage, but I’m so grateful to receive this award. Every year is special and precious, but this year seems particularly meaningful and will be long remembered by me.”
He continued, “There were many first attempts, and making this album took a long time. I named it ‘Ubermensch,’ which sounded cool. The meaning is ‘transcender,’ but personally, it feels like a spell, a mindset I wish to embody. I’m grateful to everyone who worked with me.”
G-Dragon also expressed appreciation for his fans, VIPs, saying, “Thank you for being my inspiration and source, and I miss the BIGBANG members.”
G-Dragon, also honored as ‘Artist of the Year,’ joked, “This is not a replay.” He added, “Receiving the second grand prize from a respected senior makes it even more valuable. Besides saying I’m happy and grateful, I have nothing else to add but to do better.”
He also stated, “I will continue to work hard to become an artist fitting for this moment. Back when I started, the word ‘artist’ felt distant, but I hope everyone here realizes that everyone is an artist. We’re all directing our lives. Each story is different, but there’s no right answer, so be the protagonist. I’ll own the next 25 years.”
His track ‘Home Sweet Home,’ featuring members Taeyang and Daesung, won the ‘Best Song’ category. The ‘Record of the Year’ trophy went to BLACKPINK’s Jennie.
Meanwhile, ‘MMA2025’ featured performances from G-Dragon, Jay Park, 10CM, Zico, EXO, WOODZ, Jennie, aespa, IVE, Hanroro, BOYNEXTDOOR, RIIZE, PLAVE, NCT WISH, ILLIT, Hearts2Hearts, KiiiKiii, ALLDAY PROJECT, IDID, and ALPHA DRIVE ONE.
