Actor Hyun Bin revealed the behind-the-scenes story of his joint Best Actor and Best Actress wins with wife Son Ye-jin.
The YouTube channel ‘Channel Fifteen’ posted a video titled ‘A Glimpse into a Star Couple’s Reality’ on the 25th.
In the video, producer Na Young-seok (PD Na) opened the conversation with Hyun Bin, saying, “You and your wife, Son Ye-jin, recently celebrated a simultaneous win at the Blue Dragon Film Awards. That’s so cool. I imagined both of you getting ready for the event together.”
Seo Eunsu humorously interjected, “They go to different salons,” drawing laughter.
Recalling the event, Hyun Bin shared, “The Popularity Award is decided by votes, and the results are announced the night before. I went as usual, and when I saw the results, I was overjoyed.”
When PD Na asked if they celebrated together that night, Hyun Bin candidly replied, “No, that night we each joined our separate teams’ celebratory dinners.”
PD Na humorously remarked, “This is so different from the couple I imagined. It’s disappointing,” eliciting laughter.
Hyun Bin added, “I imagined it too, but after the event, there are gatherings where the people who worked hard on the project celebrate, so we needed our separate time.”
PD Na then asked, “Even if you win together, is it like going home and thinking, ‘They’re not home yet. Should I wash up and go to bed first?'” Hyun Bin nodded, confirming, “The next day, it’s back to reality with our individual work schedules.”
Last month, at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards held at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin jointly received the Popularity Award before taking home the trophies for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively. This achievement of a married couple simultaneously winning top acting honors was widely celebrated.
At the ceremony, Son Ye-jin was visibly moved when Hyun Bin was announced as Best Actor. Similarly, Hyun Bin affectionately embraced Son Ye-jin when she was named Best Actress, publicly demonstrating his affection.
Their acceptance speeches continued the sweet sentiments. Hyun Bin expressed, “Thanks to my wife, Ye-jin, who gives me strength just by being there, and to our son.” Son Ye-jin also smiled, sharing, “I want to share the joy of this award with the two men I dearly love, Kim Tae-pyung (Hyun Bin’s real name) and our baby.”
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, both born in 1982, married in 2022 and welcomed their son that same year.
