HYBE’s global girl group KATSEYE faces internal strife and racial controversy as member Manon temporarily suspends her activities.

On the 21st, HYBE and Geffen Records announced Manon’s break from group activities, stating, “After an honest and thorough discussion, Manon has decided to focus on her health and well-being. We fully support her decision.”

They added, “KATSEYE will continue to do their best for each other and for our treasured fans. The group plans to carry on with scheduled activities and looks farward to reuniting when the time is right.”

However, following the agency’s announcement, the father of member Daniela responded on social media to a fan’s comment that “KATSEYE must be six members” by saying, “Five is fine. The show must go on, with or without members. KATSEYE is much bigger than one member.”

Manon posted on her account, “I wanted to share this personally. I’m healthy, doing well, and taking good care of myself. Sometimes things go in ways we can’t fully control, but I believe in the bigger picture. Thank you so much for staying by my side.”

Some speculate that Manon might be trying to leave the group.

Meanwhile, Manon ‘liked’ a post stating, “Yet another black girl faces racism and unfair treatment by her agency,” which mentioned KATSEYE along with Little Mix and Fifth Harmony.

Previously, KATSEYE was nominated for Best New Artist at the 68th Grammy Awards. While they did not win, they performed their hit song ‘Gnarly’ at the Grammys.

Manon’s hiatus and the emerging discord within the team are causing concern among fans.
