Lee Byung-hun Celebrates Double Honors: Golden Globe Nominee and First KALH Honors Recipient

Actor Lee Byung-hun was recognized for his global influence as he was selected as the inaugural recipient at the KALH (Korean American Leaders in Hollywood) Honors held on the 7th in Los Angeles.

KALH announced that it was established this year to spotlight the works of Korean diaspora creators in the global film industry. They highlighted Lee’s expansive acting range and international reputation, director Park Chan-wook’s artistic innovation, and Netflix animation ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ director Maggie Kang. All were honored as the first recipients.

Lee expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank everyone involved. It’s even more of an honor to receive this award at such a meaningful event. I will never forget this glorious moment.”

He added, “Working again with Director Park Chan-wook on the film ‘I Can’t Help It’ has been a great fortune. I am also grateful to the staff and the talented actors involved.”

He remarked on the familiar faces he met at the event, feeling warmth and friendliness, believing that perhaps they were actors he has always supported on screens.

Lee acknowledged the challenging journey to this point, pledging continual support for others.

KALH, founded in 2020, gathers leaders from film, TV, music, and charity to support global activities of Korean creators. KALH founder and executive director Kymber Lim praised Lee, Park, and Kang for showcasing the depth and richness of Korean storytelling to the world.

Meanwhile, Lee’s film ‘I Can’t Help It’ was nominated for International Feature and Adaptation at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards. His role in ‘Squid Game’ also secured a nomination for Best Foreign Language Series, reaffirming his strong presence in the global OTT market.

Further, Lee’s voice role in ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ secured a nomination for Best Animation, bringing all three of his projects into the limelight.

Moreover, Lee was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards. ‘I Can’t Help It’ and ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ were also nominated for Best Picture and Best Animated Feature, respectively.

Lee’s recognition at KALH and his nominations at major award ceremonies highlight his international standing and the depth of his work.
