Actor Lee Byung-hun has been recognized once again on the global stage by being selected as one of the ’10 Best Performers in Film 2025′ by The New York Times Magazine.
The Times asked how these ten actors, who delivered the most impressive performances in films in 2025, evoke primal emotions such as love, hate, joy, and sadness. Under the theme of “the essence of acting is direct access to emotion,” Lee Byung-hun stood out for his role in director Park Chan-wook’s film “I Have No Choice.”
Lee responded, “When acting, I don’t think of my real life. To accurately express those emotions, I have to be fully immersed in the story. Sometimes, emotions I never considered while first reading the script surprise me during filming.”
Besides Lee Byung-hun, contemporary screen icons like Liam Neeson (‘The Naked Gun’), Kirsten Dunst (‘Roofman’), and Teyana Taylor (‘One Battle After Another’) are also included in the list.
This acknowledgment by The New York Times reaffirms Lee Byung-hun’s established position as an actor who compellingly portrays the density of emotions and the human interior beyond borders and languages.
Meanwhile, Lee Byung-hun has been nominated for the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy category at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.
