Singer Hwasa from the group MAMAMOO has been accused of committing an indecent performance crime.
According to the Seoul Seongdong Police Station on the 10th, Hwasa was reported to the police by the Korean Association for the Protection of Students’ and Parents’ Rights (KAPS) for the alleged offense of indecent performance.
In response to this, Hwasa’s agency, P-NATION, stated to Xportsnews, “We are aware that the police are currently reviewing the case.”
Previously, KAPS had announced their intention to report Hwasa to the police regarding her performance at a university festival in May. On June 22nd, they held a press conference to accuse Hwasa of committing an indecent performance crime, criticizing her actions as “sufficient to cause embarrassment and disgust among the audience who witnessed the performance.”
KAPS also stated in their complaint, “Hwasa’s actions evoke perverted sexual acts, causing sufficient embarrassment among the audience who witnessed it,” and argued that her behavior cannot be interpreted as an artistic performance, as it does not align with the context of the choreography.
The Seongdong Police Station has initiated an investigation into the case, and they stated that they plan to summon the accused for questioning after reviewing the evidence.
