On the 17th, Bang Chan took to Stray Kids’ official Instagram and stated, “I apologize for causing discomfort to many people with the comments I made during a recent live broadcast. I have deeply reflected on how my words and actions can influence others.”
He clarified, “I did not intend to single out a specific artist, and it had nothing to do with the artist currently being mentioned. I also feel sorry for the artist who was unintentionally affected by my thoughtless remarks. I sincerely apologize.”
Furthermore, he added, “I will always be cautious to prevent such incidents from happening again. Once again, I sincerely apologize.”
Previously, during the live broadcast, Bang Chan expressed concern about whether his stories might sound like “old-fashioned nagging” due to the generation gap when discussing KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank in Paris 2023’ in response to a fan’s question. He mentioned, “I’m not trying to insult anyone. I usually greet people when I pass by, so it’s surprising when they don’t greet back. Is it acceptable in today’s generation?”
Although he did not specify which idol he was referring to, online communities started speculating about the idol who did not greet Bang Chan. However, there were also criticisms about his rash comments.
