The group Stray Kids will set the stage on fire at the ‘2023 MTV Video Music Awards’ (MTV VMAs).
On September 12th (local time), Stray Kids will present a ‘special’ performance at the ‘MTV VMAs’ held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, USA. Notably, this performance marks Stray Kids’ debut at the ‘MTV VMAs’ and will be showcased through US local broadcasting.
On the 22nd, Billboard officially announced Stray Kids’ participation in the ‘MTV VMAs’ on its website, stating, “Stray Kids rose to the ‘Best K-Pop’ category last year with ‘MANIAC.’ They will unveil their title track ‘Special’ from their 3rd full album ‘★★★★★ (5-STAR)’ for the first time on US television. This album achieved its third No.1 on the Billboard 200 in less than 15 months.”
Started in 1984 and boasting a history of over 40 years, the ‘MTV VMAs’ is regarded as one of the four major American music awards, along with the Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and American Music Awards.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids opened their debut dome tour ‘Stray Kids 5-STAR Dome Tour 2023’ at Fukuoka PayPay Dome in Japan on August 16th and 17th.
As the ‘first 4th-generation K-pop boy group’ to perform at the four major domes in Japan, Stray Kids achieved impressive ticket sales for this dome tour. The pre-sale alone exceeded 2.5 million entries, and it achieved rapid full-house ticket sales, showcasing their remarkable ticket power.
The enthusiastic support has kickstarted the dome tour in a spectacular manner, with eight grand-scale shows in four Japanese cities, including Vantelin Dome Nagoya on September 2nd-3rd, Kyocera Dome Osaka on September 9th-10th, and Tokyo Dome on October 28th-29th.
On September 6th, they will also release their first EP album in Japan, titled ‘Social Path (feat. LiSA) / Super Bowl – Japanese ver.-.’
