The group Stray Kids has achieved three consecutive number one rankings on the US Billboard chart.
According to an article on the Billboard official website on the 11th (local time), Stray Kids’ third full-length album, “★★★★★ (5-STAR),” released on June 2nd, topped the Billboard 200, the main chart of Billboard.
With this, Stray Kids has reached the pinnacle of the Billboard 200, achieving three consecutive number one rankings, following their two mini albums, “ODDINARY” and “MAXIDENT,” released in 2022 and their first album of 2023.
In particular, they achieved a combined sales of 249,500 albums in the first week, including physical album sales and streaming, surpassing the first-week sales of their two albums released last year and setting another new record. Additionally, their physical album sales reached 235,000 copies, making it the album with the highest sales in a single week in 2023, surpassing Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” released in October 2022, and achieving the highest first-week sales since then.
Previously, Stray Kids became the first K-pop artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 with “ODDINARY” and “MAXIDENT” in March and October of last year, and they showcased a strong presence as the only artist to have multiple albums top the chart in 2022.
As of May 30th, pre-orders for Stray Kids’ new album reached 4.93 million copies, setting a new record for the highest number of pre-orders for a K-pop album. Two days later, on June 1st, it surpassed 5.13 million copies, further solidifying their career high in initial sales. As of the 8th, based on the Hanteo Chart, the album achieved 4.617 million copies in first-week sales (sales within the first week since its release), and they became the first artist from JYP Entertainment to achieve quadruple million-selling status, setting a new record for the highest first-week sales in K-pop album history.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids will hold their third solo fan meeting, “Stray Kids 3RD FANMEETING ‘PILOT: FOR ★★★★★'” (‘Pilot: For Five-Star’), at the KSPO DOME in Seoul’s Songpa District on July 1st and 2nd.
