TWICE’s Dahyun has successfully established her presence as an actress, raising further anticipation for her future acting career.
Dahyun debuted as an actress in February 2025 with the film ‘The Girl We Liked Back Then’ directed by Jo Young-myung. Later that year, she made her mark as a rookie actress with the film ‘Full Speed’ directed by Lee Seung-hoon and expanded her activities to television by the end of the year, captivating viewers with her mature expressions and emotions.
In the JTBC drama ‘Love Me’ (directed by Jo Young-min, written by Park Eun-young & Park Hee-kwon, produced by SLL & How Pictures) which ended in January this year, Dahyun played the role of ‘Ji Hye-on’, a character who pursues her dream of becoming a writer, naturally portraying contemporary youth.
She subtly conveyed an inner self that appeared calm yet was never monotonous, and portrayed the romance of a belated realization of love for a friend, adding stability to the drama.
To accurately portray ‘Ji Hye-on’, Dahyun dedicated significant effort. Believing that understanding the character’s job as a ‘publishing editor’ would enhance her performance, she met with actual editors and researched details such as daily routines and attire to ensure relatability.
Her unique gentle voice added warmth to the character of ‘Ji Hye-on’. With lines like “When alone, I feel lonely because I’m alone. When with others, I fear being left alone. Rich or poor, loneliness is always there,” she comforted viewers with a casual yet heartfelt delivery, passionately completing her portrayal of ‘Ji Hye-on’.
Dahyun also garnered attention for her performances in previous works. As ‘Seon-ah’ in ‘The Girl We Liked Back Then’, she portrayed both the universally admired ‘first love’ and the adult ‘Seon-ah’, showcasing a range of emotions from delightful smiles to poignant tears. In ‘Full Speed’, she displayed exceptional character interpretation as ‘Im Ji-eun’, a character who felt alive while running, by researching the role and incorporating real experiences.
Her upgraded dialogue delivery and expression in ‘Love Me’ shone brightly. Viewers praised her natural acting, offering comments such as “Her performance was so seamless that I didn’t realize it was TWICE’s Dahyun until later,” “The character’s charm was evident, yet Dahyun’s ease made her appearances eagerly awaited,” and “Looking forward to her future acting endeavors.”
Since the announcement of her acting challenge, Dahyun delivered significant satisfaction throughout her debut year, showcasing a range of roles such as ‘Seon-ah’, ‘Ji-eun’, and ‘Hye-on’. Attention now focuses on her future endeavors in 2026 as both ‘Actress Dahyun’ and a member of TWICE.
