BTS member V has shared some details about his father’s past.

On March 29, V appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Yojong Jaehyung,’ where he engaged in an open conversation.

During the show, V brought gifts, including homemade kimchi from his grandmother in Geochang and soy-marinated crab from his aunt in Geoje. “Our family is known for its generosity,” V said, passing on the gifts to Jaehyung, who, with his characteristic laugh, expressed his delight, saying, “This is amazing.”

Speaking about his motivation to become a singer, V reminisced, “As a child, I loved when adults applauded my dancing, and that made me want to be on stage.” He shared that when he expressed a desire to become a singer, “There was a banner of actor Kang Dong-won in Geochang, and my grandmother pointed to it, telling me, ‘You should become someone like that.’ I understood her words.” He amusingly added, “Now, I hear my own banner is displayed in Geochang.”

V also discussed how he started his musical journey. “When I was in sixth grade, I wanted to pursue my dream and told my father about it. He said, ‘You should learn at least one instrument,’ and mentioned that attending an high school would help. Strategically, I chose the saxophone, which I studied for four years starting in middle school.”

V’s father’s past also drew attention. “I later found out that my father also dreamed of being an entertainer. He was preparing to become an entertainer and worked as an FD at Daegu MBC,” V revealed. “He believed opportunities would arise while working at the broadcast station, but they didn’t for him. For me, they did,” he added with a laugh.

The reason for V’s late reveal in his debut group was also mentioned. Jaehyung asked V, “You were picked early, but why were you the last to be introduced? Weren’t you anxious?” V responded, “They said the delay was to prevent other companies from scouting me.”

When asked about his military service, V said, “I served in the Special Warfare Command, called SDT, which handles internal suppression. I preferred physical challenges over mental ones, so I applied to the special forces.” He continued, “While the training was tough, I wanted to experience challenging exercises like rappelling, and through it, I overcame my fear of heights.”

Regarding bulking up during his service, V said, “I had promised fans I would return healthier, so I really dedicated myself.”

V recalled his early fan meetings, saying, “During our first fan meeting, about 30 people attended, which was more than our group had members. I was touched that so many people came to see us.” He added, “We didn’t achieve this alone; the fans promoted us and created precious opportunities. We want to meet their expectations and practice hard for them.”
