YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group, BABYMONSTER, delivered a heartwarming and touching experience through their pre-debut song ‘Dream’.
On the 14th, YG Entertainment unveiled the pre-debut song ‘Dream’ on BABYMONSTER’s official YouTube channel. The video captures the passion and sincerity of the seven girls who have been running breathlessly towards their debut goal.
From the warm sensibility of the mid to low tones to the thrilling high notes, BABYMONSTER’s unique emotional harmony deeply resonates with the listeners. The solo parts that showcase each member’s charm, the perfect harmonies in the latter half, and the solid rapping in the rap line draw attention.
The lyrics of ‘Dream’ reveal the determined aspirations and firm determination of the members as they approach their debut. Rather than crumbling or running away when difficult times come, the lyrics convey a message of hope to face the challenges with greater strength. The members completed the song with their sincere vocals, hinting at their brilliant future.
In addition, scenes from ‘Last Evaluation’ are combined to maximize the emotional impact of the song. The process of going through the gateway of final debut while comforting each other even when shedding tears during the practice that didn’t go as planned is depicted. The passionate embrace at the end of the last stage leaves a strong impression.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is the girl group introduced by YG after a gap of approximately seven years since BLACKPINK. With a multinational lineup consisting of members from Korea (Ahyeon, Haram, Rora), Thailand (Parita, Chiquita), and Japan (Ruka, Asa), they possess vocals, dance, rap, and visual skills as all-rounders, garnering expectations from the global music market.
As pre-debut trainees, BABYMONSTER achieved the milestone of surpassing 2 million subscribers on their YouTube channel in just 129 days, breaking the record for the shortest period among K-pop girl groups. They also surpassed 400 million cumulative views for teaser content, signaling an early popularity boom. Billboard selected them as a “K-pop artist to watch” and predicted that they would create a new wave in the K-pop genre.
