Bang Si-hyuk Tops K-Culture Stock Wealth with ₩4.8 Trillion; BTS Members’ Holdings Valued at ₩20 Billion

Bang Si-hyuk, chairman of HYBE, holds the largest stock valuation in the Korean culture sector, estimated at ₩4.8 trillion.

The Korean CXO Research Institute, specializing in corporate analysis, announced on the 19th the findings of a study on domestic listed companies involved in producing and distributing cultural content, including films, music, dramas, webtoons, and web novels. As of the 17th of this month, the study identified 27 individual shareholders with stock valuations exceeding ₩10 billion.

Collectively, their total stock valuation stood at approximately ₩5.9994 trillion as of January 2nd this year. By the 17th, this had increased to ₩6.127 trillion, reflecting a growth of over ₩127.6 billion in just over three months.

Bang Si-hyuk, known as the ‘father of BTS’, secured the top spot with a stock valuation of ₩4.8002 trillion. He holds 13,151,394 shares of HYBE.

In second place is Park Jin-young, the largest shareholder of JYP Entertainment and co-chair of the Committee for Cultural Exchange, with a stock valuation of ₩362.7 billion.

Yang Hyun-suk, the largest shareholder of YG Entertainment, ranks third with ₩225 billion, followed by Park Sung-chan, chairman of Danal (₩89.6 billion), and Kang Seung-kwon, CEO of Cube Entertainment (₩62.8 billion).

The stock valuation for BTS members is also estimated to be around ₩20 billion as of the 17th. However, after being excluded from the special relationship category of HYBE’s largest shareholder in September 2023, they are no longer required to disclose stock changes.
