BTS’s Gwanghwamun Square Comeback Show Receives Conditional Approval

K-pop sensation BTS is set to hold a comeback show at Gwanghwamun Square, marking their return after three years and nine months.

On January 22, the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s first Gwanghwamun Square advisory committee meeting granted conditional approval for the ‘BTS 2026 Comeback Show @ Seoul’.

This decision is contingent on the event passing a safety management plan review. Seoul city authorities will scrutinize the safety plan submitted by the organizers. Final approval hinges on improvements such as separating performer and audience movement, preventing overlapping exit times, and minimizing traffic disruption.

Earlier, HYBE, BTS’s agency, submitted an application to authorities for utilizing areas around Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gwanghwamun, and Sungnyemun for the concert.

Anticipating large crowds, Seoul city plans to proactively address potential issues including traffic management, public safety, and preventing problems like unfair trading practices and lodging price hikes near Gwanghwamun Square, aiming to minimize inconvenience for both citizens and tourists.

BTS will conclude their ‘military hiatus’ and make a full group comeback with their 5th studio album, ‘ARIRANG,’ on March 20, ending their three-year and nine-month break.

Following the album’s release, they will embark on a major world tour, kicking off in Goyang on April 9.
