Daniel, Ousted from NewJeans, Launches Personal SNS and Live Session, Drawing Comparisons to NJZ

Daniel, who was ousted from the group NewJeans, has launched a personal social media account and begun his independent activities.

Recently, Daniel opened an Instagram account. While there are no posts yet, the account immediately garnered significant attention, particularly from fans.

On this account, Daniel is only following his older sister, Daniel Marsh, a solo singer.

Following the account launch, Daniel’s legal representative from the law firm Lee & Ko announced that Daniel would hold a ‘live message’ session via this social media account to directly engage with fans at 7 PM on the 12th.

This live message is intended as heartfelt communication to fans who have long supported him and will be broadcast live via his personal YouTube channel and Instagram.

Previously, Daniel only used the official account managed by his former agency, ADOR, during his tenure with NewJeans, sparking significant interest in his future steps after opening a personal social media account.

Daniel has swiftly begun independent activities after opening the personal account, drawing attention. His representatives emphasized, “This live session is purely for communication with fans and is unrelated to any legal disputes.”

Previously, the NewJeans members declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR in November 2024, following the failed reinstatement of Min Hee-jin as CEO, and began their independent activities under the name ‘NJZ.’

They subsequently launched a social media account under the NJZ name, thereby initiating independent activities. Some observers noted that Daniel’s move to create a personal social media account is similar to that of ‘NJZ,’ even amidst his ongoing legal dispute with ADOR, which has fueled curiosity about how he will communicate with the public through this account.

In October last year, the court ruled in favor of ADOR in a lawsuit concerning the validity of the exclusive contract. Afterwards, Haerin and Hyein announced their return following discussions with ADOR, followed by separate statements from Minji, Hanni, and Daniel expressing their intention to return.

However, ADOR later announced ongoing discussions with Minji, while simultaneously notifying Daniel of his contract termination.

ADOR stated at the time that it had determined working with Daniel as a NewJeans member and ADOR artist was difficult, and therefore had notified him of the termination of his exclusive contract that day. The agency added, “We plan to hold legally accountable a Daniel family member and former CEO Min Hee-jin for causing this dispute and the delay in NewJeans’ return.”

Daniel is expected to proceed with a lawsuit against ADOR seeking approximately KRW 40 billion in penalties and damages. With his legal representative appointed and the lawsuit officially filed, attention is now focused on whether he will continue his independent activities after opening a personal social media account.
