Dynamic Duo’s 11-Year-Old Song ‘AEAO’ Resurges with Cross-Generational Challenge Frenzy

Dynamic Duo’s ‘AEAO’ has extended its resurgence streak into a third year, breaking the record for the longest chart run in K-hip hop history.

Originally released in 2014 by Dynamic Duo (Gaeko and Choiza), ‘AEAO’ experienced a resurgence on global charts in 2023, fueled by the challenge craze. Recently, it has sparked another challenge boom across short-form platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, capturing widespread attention.

Numerous K-pop artists, including ENHYPEN’s Sunghoon and Jungwon, H1GHR MUSIC’s Carmen, Ena, Ian, and Ziu, Cortiz’s Gunho and Juhun, NCT DREAM’s Renjun, Haechan, and Chenle, ZEROBASEONE’s Seok Matthew and Park Gunwook, BOYNEXTDOOR’s Han, LE SSERAFIM, TREASURE’s Yoon Jaehyuk and Haruto, RISE’s Wonbin and Sohee, EXO’s Chen and Xiumin, NCT WISH’s Sakuya and Ryo, &TEAM’s Nicholas and Harua, TOURS’ Shinyu, IZNA’s Bang Jimin and Koko, NMIXX’s Lily, Bae, and Jiwoo, KiKi’s Jiyu and Haum, QWER’s Chodan, Magenta, and Siyeon, have joined the ‘AEAO’ challenge, reigniting its viral presence.

As of December 1, ‘AEAO’ challenge videos have surpassed 130 million views across Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. The song’s addictive chorus and beat have become memes, naturally spreading and further fueling its global chart resurgence. Fans worldwide are also creating related content, such as choreography, lip-syncs, and parodies, driving the song’s rediscovery.

Transcending generations and platforms, ‘AEAO’ continues to shine as it climbs back up on global music charts such as Shazam, Apple Music, iTunes, and TikTok, marking the first three-year consecutive resurgence in K-hip hop history. This track was also featured in the latest NBA 2K26 game soundtrack and has surpassed 110 million streams on Spotify, solidifying its status as a signature K-hip hop song.

In related news, Choiza expressed his thoughts on this resurgence via his SNS on December 1, stating, “Like a comet that returns every 2-3 years, ‘AEAO’ is being noticed on the charts once again. It’s an unbelievable miracle. It’s overwhelming. I am deeply grateful to DJ Premier for creating such an incredible beat and to everyone who made fun Reels by playing the song fast and slow.” Gaeko also commemorated this meaningful moment by sharing related articles and chart records on his SNS.

In addition to ‘AEAO’, Dynamic Duo’s 2014 release with R&B diva Lena Park, ‘SsSs’, has continued to receive love despite a 10-year gap. This warm, year-end-themed song topped major music charts like Olleh, Genie, and Mnet Music upon release and is revived each winter as both a seasonal and challenge song.

Recently, the ‘SsSs’ dance challenge has been trending again across online communities, TikTok, and Reels, showcasing the song’s timeless value. As of December 1, it re-entered the Melon Daily Rap/Hip-hop Chart, Apple Music Korea’s K-Pop Popular Songs Chart, and Shazam Korea’s Top 200 Chart, reaffirming its presence.

Meanwhile, Dynamic Duo is set to host their 2025 solo concert ‘Let’s Meet Often’ on December 20 and 21 at the BEXCO Auditorium in Busan, December 24 at EXCO Dong 4 Hall in Daegu, December 27 at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center Multipurpose Hall in Gwangju, and January 23, 24, and 25 next year at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul.
