The government is pushing to hold a K-pop concert in China next January featuring many Korean K-pop artists, sparking speculation that this might lead to lifting the Hallyu (Korean culture) ban.
It has been reported that the Presidential Office recently requested cooperation from the four major agencies—HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment—regarding the K-pop concert in China.
With President Lee Jae-myung considering a visit to China as a reciprocal visit following the Korea-China summit after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s attendance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju, attention centers on whether the K-pop concert can be held in China.
