Xportsnews reports that numerous individuals who posted malicious comments about singer IU have faced penalties.
On the 11th, her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced that it had taken legal action against individuals who defamed IU through malicious posts, spread false information, or engaged in sexual harassment.
The agency revealed that last year, it had criminally charged and civilly sued a total of 96 individuals who posted malicious content on portal sites, online communities, and social media, disclosing their IDs.
These malicious commenters received fines, suspended prison sentences, and probation. The agency filed additional lawsuits against those who continued to post malicious content. The agency also took specific actions against those who raised false plagiarism allegations, falsely accused IU of serious crimes, or spread false rumors regarding her nationality and identity.

Furthermore, the agency filed civil damage claims regarding cases on unidentified overseas sites like YouTube and Threads, pursuing legal procedures in U.S. courts to identify those users.
The agency is conducting its own monitoring efforts along with reports from fans, and warned that it would continue to take strong legal action.
IU’s agency has consistently announced legal actions and rulings against malicious posts. Netizens are welcoming strong ‘zero tolerance’ legal measures instead of ‘leniency’ towards malicious actions. As additional lawsuits continue, many fans are applauding IU’s persistent approach.
