Jennie of BLACKPINK has set a new milestone in K-pop history with her debut full album ‘Ruby’.
On December 3 (local time), the American music magazine Rolling Stone announced its ‘The 100 Best Albums of 2025’ on its official website, where Jennie’s first solo album ‘Ruby’ ranked 29th, marking the highest position ever for a K-pop artist.
Rolling Stone praised ‘Ruby’ for deeply relying on ideas that dominated R&B-infused pop of the 2000s and 2010s, while also modernizing them in intriguing ways. They commended Jennie for her remarkable ability to dominate the sweet pop R&B core.
In addition, Jennie was named ‘Korean Idol of the Year 2025’ by Forbes Korea, proving her significant global influence.
Jennie also participated in the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify’s ‘Spotify Wrapped 2025’ campaign as the only Korean artist and was the sole K-pop solo artist to be listed in the ‘Best Pop Albums of 2025.’ Her title track ‘like JENNIE’ was ranked 43rd on the list of ‘Most Streamed Songs of 2025’ globally, achieving the highest ranking for a song by a female K-pop artist released this year.
Furthermore, ‘like JENNIE’ ranked 62nd on Apple Music’s year-end chart ‘Top 100: Global 2025’, marking the first time a K-pop solo artist entered the chart.
Jennie’s debut solo album ‘Ruby’ includes a total of 15 tracks across various genres, including the title track ‘like JENNIE’. Jennie took charge of producing the album herself, embedding her identity and limitless musical potential. By showcasing songs and concepts from multiple genres, Jennie continues to set new records as a solo artist, rewriting history.
