KARD’s Jeon So-min has embarked on her solo career after nine years, captivating listeners with a provocative new song that highlights her unique style.
On April 2, Jeon So-min released her first EP, ‘UNVEIL,’ along with the music video for its title track, ‘Backseat.’
‘UNVEIL’ focuses on Jeon So-min’s essence as an artist, shedding any previous labels associated with her name. She explained that the album reveals the persona she always wanted to show, filled with the music she excels at.
This album marks Jeon So-min’s debut as a solo artist after approximately nine years. Before the release, she shared through her agency that while the word ‘debut’ still feels unfamiliar, it feels like a major turning point in her life, making her both excited and nervous.
She added, “After months of contemplation and hard work, I hope many people will listen to and enjoy ‘UNVEIL.'” She also expressed her determination to showcase even better performances in the future, stating that this is just the beginning.

The title track, ‘Backseat,’ which she described as a “major turning point,” garners attention with its intense mood. ‘Backseat’ is a pop track featuring a minimal yet solid beat, a prominent bassline, and addictive synths.
Jeon So-min’s provocative vocals further enhance the lyrics, which highlight a composed attitude amidst meaningless gossip and noise. Lines like “I don’t chase fame / Call me Queen, you can’t handle this weight / Baby you fake” and “I hear how you talk about us / You can’t help but talk about us / Wanna ride with me / But you stay in the Backseat” contribute to the song’s immersive quality.
The album includes a total of seven tracks spanning various genres such as R&B, trap, and reggaeton, including ‘Love Me Like A Fan,’ ‘Keep It Cute,’ ‘Got It Like That,’ ‘Como Yo A Ti,’ ‘Closure,’ and ‘Backseat (Inst.).’
