Jungkook Faces Three Privacy Breaches Since Military Discharge

Jungkook

BTS’s Jungkook has experienced three privacy invasions since his military discharge in June.

On December 22, the Seoul Yongsan Police officially launched an investigation into a Japanese woman in her 50s, identified as Ms. A, who is accused of attempted home invasion. She reportedly pressed the door lock of Jungkook’s single-family home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, several times over three days from December 12 to 14.

In addition to the attempted home invasion charges, police are also investigating her under the Stalking Punishment Act at the complainant’s request. However, Ms. A is currently not in South Korea, so she has not yet been interrogated.

Jungkook has experienced multiple privacy breaches this year. On June 11, his military discharge day, a Chinese woman in her 30s attempted to access his home by repeatedly pressing the door password before police caught her. She later received a suspended prosecution in October.

In August, a Korean woman in her 40s illegally entered Jungkook’s home garage, and police subsequently arrested her. She was referred to the prosecution in October on charges of home invasion and violating the Stalking Punishment Act.

During a live broadcast, Jungkook shared his experience, saying, “I was watching (the incident) on CCTV. As soon as the police arrived, the intruder tried to open the garage door but was caught by police. I had been watching everything.” He also issued a warning, stating, “If you come, I’ll lock you up. You’ll just be taken to the police station. All evidence is secured, and everything is recorded here. If you want to be dragged away, come.”

Last December, while on military leave, Jungkook also expressed frustration over privacy invasions during a live broadcast, asking fans not to come to his new home after his relocation details were shared online.

Despite his requests, Jungkook has faced three instances of privacy invasion since his discharge. BTS’s management stated in June that “police investigations are ongoing regarding the recent intrusion attempts at the homes of BTS members,” and they are “actively cooperating with the investigation to ensure proper criminal charges are filed.”

They warned that “any stalking activities towards the BTS members are immediately reported to the police for on-site arrest, along with applying for restraining orders. We are taking strong action without any leniency against any acts that threaten our artists’ privacy and safety.”
