BTS’s Jungkook went live on Weverse ahead of the group’s comeback. During the session, he drank alcohol and made controversial remarks, which led to disappointment among fans given the timing.
In the early hours of the 26th, Jungkook streamed live for about an hour and a half on Weverse, drinking and singing with friends and his older brother. His candid comments included frustration at not being able to speak freely due to his age.
In a past confession about smoking, Jungkook stated, “I’m 30 now, can’t I talk about it? I used to smoke a lot but quit after trying hard. However, as soon as I mention it, the company will go crazy.” He continued, “Being drunk and speaking like this is just my personality and my thoughts. I want to talk freely without worrying about the company. This is me.”

Jungkook expressed his desire to be honest with his fans, ARMY, saying, “If it weren’t for the company, I would share everything,” and added that he refrains from being completely open to avoid causing trouble for the company or his bandmates.
During the livestream, he made obscene gestures to a friend and shouted English profanities at the camera. As some fans expressed concern in the comments, Jungkook retorted, “Why should I stop? I’d appreciate it if you didn’t tell me what to do.”
After the broadcast, he shared a selfie and promised, “I’ll work hard once we make our comeback,” adding, “Please support me as I live my own way.”

Fans were divided, with some appreciating his honesty, but others lamented that his concerns might have been more credible if he had not been intoxicated.
Additionally, Jungkook had previously faced dating rumors with aespa’s Winter, primarily due to hints like “couple tattoos,” which sparked backlash from some fans. Though neither party has commented, the drinking livestream intensified discussions about his perceived lack of freedom.
Comments such as “He seems free already,” “What more freedom can you get than a drinking livestream?” and “He’s really 30, why act this way” reflected disappointment and questioned if this aligns with “Jungkook’s way.” Ultimately, the livestream was deleted.
With BTS set to return with their fifth studio album ‘Arirang’ on March 20, marking their first full-group comeback after a military hiatus, the controversy has caused unrest among fans eagerly awaiting the release.
