No Princesses From the Start: BLACKPINK’s Historic Comeback Show Features National Museum Collaboration

BLACKPINK’s era begins anew. Having firmly established their unique position at the forefront of K-pop globalization, they are set to release their third mini-album ‘DEADLINE’ after three years and five months. Xportsnews explores the musical narrative and individual journeys of the members, anticipating the impact this new album will have.

The group BLACKPINK has consistently made their own history, breaking the success formula of K-pop girl groups. BLACKPINK’s unique identity, not defined by conventional ‘lovely’ or ‘sexy’ concepts, also translates into significant musical achievements.

At 2 PM on the 27th, BLACKPINK’s third mini-album ‘DEADLINE’ will be released. The album features a total of five tracks: the title song ‘GO’, the pre-release track ‘JUMP’, ‘Me and My’, ‘Champion’, and ‘Fxxxboy’.

This marks their first album release in two years and five months since their second full album ‘BORN PINK’ in 2022. As they celebrate their 10th anniversary this year, they have consistently captivated fans by blending intense music with high-quality performances.

Perhaps reflecting confidence in the album, the title track ‘GO’ was revealed with minimal fanfare, eschewing lengthy explanations prior to its release. The short music video teaser captures BLACKPINK embarking on a long journey, featuring simplistic yet vivid black-and-white imagery.

Nevertheless, the scale of this comeback is unprecedented. BLACKPINK collaborated on a large scale with the National Museum of Korea, a first for a K-pop artist. The collaboration includes pink lighting of the museum’s exterior, BLACKPINK’s participation as docents introducing significant artifacts, and a listening session before the official release—an innovative effort bridging music and cultural heritage.

Shunning common formulas for girl groups, BLACKPINK has consistently led the K-pop battlefield as warriors, not princesses. Anticipation is high for whether they will once again write a new chapter in history with this comeback.
