Police have conducted a forceful investigation into singer Psy on charges pertaining to the alleged receipt of psychotropic drugs.
According to police on the 11th, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul searched the office and vehicle of Psy’s agency, P Nation, earlier this month due to suspicions of violating medical laws.
During this process, the police reportedly secured Psy’s mobile phone for digital forensics and are reviewing data related to non-face-to-face and proxy prescriptions. A summons for Psy is also being considered.
Psy has been accused of receiving prescriptions for psychotropic medications from a general hospital in Seoul without in-person medical consultations for about three years since 2022.
Professor A, who is accused of proxy prescribing these sedatives to Psy, is under investigation for alleged violations of medical law. Professor A has reportedly denied the allegations, claiming that it was a “non-face-to-face consultation.”
In response, Psy’s side admitted to the fact of proxy receipt but denied the allegations of proxy prescribing. P Nation stated, “Receiving sedatives on behalf of someone was a clear mistake and oversight,” but added, “Psy has been diagnosed with chronic sleep disorders and has been taking sedatives as prescribed by medical professionals. The medication was taken as prescribed, without any proxy prescriptions.”
