Psy’s Agency and Vehicle Searched Over Sleep Medication Proxy Receipt Charges

Police have conducted a forced investigation into the singer Psy, who is accused of proxy receipt of psychoactive drugs.

According to the police on the 11th, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul searched the office and vehicle of Psy’s agency P Nation earlier this month on suspicions of violating the Medical Services Act.

During the process, they reportedly secured Psy’s mobile phone for digital forensics and are reviewing documents related to non-face-to-face prescriptions and proxy prescriptions. A summons investigation of Psy is also being considered soon.

Psy has been accused of receiving prescriptions for psychoactive drugs from a general hospital in Seoul without face-to-face consultations for about three years since 2022.

Professor A, who is accused of proxy prescribing the sleep medication for Psy, has been booked on charges of violating the Medical Services Act and is under investigation. A claims to have conducted “non-face-to-face consultations,” denying the allegations.

In response, Psy’s side admitted to the proxy receipt but denied the proxy prescribing allegations. P Nation stated, “Receiving sleep medication by proxy was a clear mistake,” but explained, “Psy has been diagnosed with chronic sleep disorders and has taken sleep medication as prescribed by medical staff. The sleep medication was taken following prescribed doses under medical guidance, and there was no proxy prescribing.”
