According to Xportsnews, Rosé of BLACKPINK has made history as her song ‘Apartment (APT.)’ became the first hit by a Korean artist to top the list of world’s best-selling singles.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) announced on the 19th (local time) that ‘Apartment’ recorded 2.06 billion units, placing it at number one on the 2025 Global Singles Chart.
The IFPI, which includes over 8,000 record companies worldwide, ranks the most consumed singles each year by converting streaming and download counts into units. Rosé is the first artist outside North America and Europe to top this chart.
Previously, Psy reached third place with ‘Gangnam Style’ in 2012, becoming the first Korean artist to enter this chart. Following him, BTS placed 10th with ‘Dynamite’ in 2020 and 4th with ‘Butter’ in 2021. Jungkook also made it into the top 10 with his solo debut song ‘Seven’ in 2024.
In second place was ‘Golden,’ sung by the virtual girl group Huntrix from the Netflix animated film ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters.’ Another hit from the film, ‘Soda Pop’ by the Lion Boys, claimed the 13th spot.
