Actor Siwan Im returns as a singer today (5th) with the release of his first solo album, ‘The Reason’.
The album, available on various music sites from 6 PM, also features the music video for the title track ‘The Reason’, which will be released on YouTube’s SMTOWN channel. The video portrays Im’s clumsy attempts at love and his determination to change, with a witty execution capturing attention.
The title track ‘The Reason’ is a medium-tempo pop song with a dynamic instrumental arrangement that complements the sweet message, “You are my reason,” reminiscent of a scene from a romantic movie.
In addition to the title track, the album includes five songs such as ‘Dear My Love’, ‘Two Of Us’, ‘Where I Need To Be’, and ‘Pieces’, showcasing Im’s musical preferences and new aspects as a ‘solo artist’.
Here is a Q&A with Siwan Im about the release of his first mini-album ‘The Reason’.

Q. It’s your first solo album release since your debut in 2010. How do you feel about debuting as a solo artist?
– Although I’ve sung alone in OSTs and thought it would be similar to my previous music activities, I feel a rush of excitement as the solo album’s release draws near.
Q. You must have paid a lot of attention since it’s your first solo album. What did you focus on during its preparation?
– One of the main reasons for the album’s existence is the stage, so I constantly envisioned the performances while working. I thought a lot about whether this song will be enjoyable for fans at concerts.
Q. The album reflects your musical taste profoundly. What specific taste did you want to incorporate?
– I wanted to bring various experiences from the stage. I personally like calm songs. However, I also think stage performances are important, so I found a suitable middle ground, resulting in music that is comfortable to listen to.

Q. Why did you choose ‘The Reason’ as the title track?
– As mentioned earlier, the most crucial factor was the stage. I wanted a piece that could be enjoyed with fans who have been a great support. ‘The Reason’ met this criterion.
Q. You’ve undergone various changes like bleaching your hair for this album. What memorable reactions did you receive?
– People were often surprised wherever I went and asked questions like, “What happened?” I’ve been busy explaining that these changes were for the album preparation. (Laughs)
Q. Choosing a favorite among the tracks excluding the title track, which one would it be and why?
– All the songs are timeless, allowing for changing favorites based on mood. Currently, I feel inclined towards ‘Where I Need To Be’ as it encourages self-reflection.
Q. What are your goals and plans as a solo artist?
– Through this album, I hope to share many moments with fans and create good memories.
Q. Any words for fans worldwide who have awaited your solo debut?
– Although I’m still lacking, the time spent interacting with fans has been precious, and I prepared earnestly to continue sharing joyful moments together. I hope we all enjoy and cherish the time.
