Arden Cho and Ahn Hyo-seop, stars of the Netflix original animated film ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters,’ appeared as guests on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on January 12 (local time) to discuss their project.
Cho, who plays the role of Rumi, revealed that she initially auditioned for the role of Selene (played by Kim Yunjin) instead of Rumi.

She recalled, “It was August 22nd at the time, and when I saw the title ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters,’ I thought, ‘I love K-pop and I love demon hunting.'”
A year later, Cho received a call to play Rumi. She recounted, “I was on vacation in Korea, bought a ticket to the U.S. right away, had about an hour session at Sony, and the project moved forward a month later.”
Ahn Hyo-seop, cast as Jin-woo, shared his initial thoughts, saying, “At first, when I saw the title, I thought it could be very interesting or strange because I’ve never seen K-pop and demon hunting put together.”

He stated, “After reading the script, I thought it was very fun and had a good message. I was confident kids would love it.” He then joked, “As a huge fan of animation, one of my favorite works is ‘Frozen.’ It’s a piece from my childhood—even though I watched it when I was almost 20.”
He added, “Knowing how impactful a piece with such meaning can be for children, it was a very meaningful project.”
Regarding his character, Jin-woo, Ahn explained, “I didn’t think Jin-woo was a demon. I think we all have little demons inside us.” He added that Jin-woo is more human-like compared to other demons and is a character who made wrong choices at the wrong time.
He also expressed, “Through Jin-woo, I hope everyone overcomes their mistakes, accepts who they are, and moves forward.”
