Netflix has confirmed the production of the movie ‘Taigo’ and revealed an exciting cast lineup.
‘Taigo’ (directed by Lee Sang-yong) is an action film about a mercenary, Taigo, who embarks on a life-risking rescue mission when his friend Ria, whom he sees as family, is kidnapped by a crime organization. Set within the world of the global action movie series ‘Extraction,’ ‘Taigo’ introduces new characters and a threatening crime organization.
The role of Taigo, who has lived only for survival in war-torn areas, will be played by the globally popular actor Ma Dong-seok. Known for diverse roles in films like Korea’s representative action series ‘The Outlaws’ and his Hollywood debut ‘Eternals,’ Ma is expected to show a new side of himself as mercenary Taigo.
Lee Jin-wook, known for Netflix series ‘Squid Game’ and ‘Sweet Home,’ takes on the role of Armand Choi, a member of the crime organization opposing Taigo, showcasing a transformation in his acting. Known for his wide acting spectrum, Lee is set to have tense confrontations with Ma Dong-seok.
Globally renowned K-POP star Lisa (Lalisa Manoban) from BLACKPINK will make her film debut as Ria, a team member and Taigo’s friend. Ria is portrayed as a family-like figure to Taigo, having shared a dangerous childhood together, and she becomes endangered during their mission.
After making an impressive turn in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3, Lisa’s first Korean film venture in ‘Taigo’ will showcase her action skills.
‘Taigo,’ which promises to deliver an overwhelming scale of action, is directed by Lee Sang-yong, who achieved ‘triple ten million’ success with the Korean film series ‘The Outlaws 2’ and ‘3.’ Action master Heo Myung-haeng, who created legendary action scenes in Korean cinema, is also on board, raising expectations.
The film is produced by Big Punch Pictures led by Ma Dong-seok, and AGBO, known for ‘Extraction’ and ‘The Gray Man,’ will take part in production. Nova Film and B&C Group, with their solid production expertise, will co-produce.
