Netflix has confirmed the production of the movie ‘Taigo’ and unveiled an exciting casting lineup.
Directed by Lee Sang-yong, ‘Taigo’ is an action film about a mercenary named Taigo, who was raised as a war orphan. During a critical mission, Taigo embarks on a life-risking rescue mission when his close friend Ria is kidnapped by a criminal organization. Set in the universe of the action film series ‘Extraction,’ ‘Taigo’ will feature new characters and a storyline that targets global action movie fans.
The role of Taigo, who has lived a life of survival in war zones, is played by Ma Dong-seok, a globally popular actor known for his diverse roles in films such as Korea’s iconic action series ‘The Outlaws’ and his Hollywood debut ‘Eternals.’ Audiences are eager to see what Ma will bring to the character of Taigo with his multifaceted talents.
Lee Jin-wook, known for his performances in Netflix series like ‘Squid Game’ and ‘Sweet Home,’ will play the role of Arman Choi, a member of the criminal organization opposing Taigo, showcasing a transformation in his acting. Lee’s broad acting spectrum is expected to bring tension to his showdown with Ma Dong-seok.
Lastly, global K-pop star Lisa (Lalisa Manoban) of BLACKPINK, who has sparked a worldwide phenomenon, will portray Ria, Taigo’s friend and team member during missions. Ria, who shares a family-like bond with Taigo from a perilous childhood, encounters danger during their mission.
Having delivered a memorable performance in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3, Lisa is making her Korean acting debut with ‘Taigo,’ challenging herself in action scenes, generating much anticipation.
‘Taigo,’ capturing the overwhelming scale of action blockbusters, is directed by Lee Sang-yong, who directed the second and third installments of ‘The Outlaws,’ the first Korean film series to reach ‘triple ten million’ viewers. The film’s action sequences are crafted by action master Heo Myeong-haeng, raising expectations even higher.
Produced by Ma Dong-seok and Big Punch Pictures, known for ‘The Outlaws’ series, along with AGBO, the production company behind Netflix’s ‘Extraction’ and ‘The Gray Man,’ ‘Taigo’ is also co-created by Nova Film and B&C Group, noted for their solid production expertise.
