IU and Byun Woo-seok, starring in “The Grand Prince of the 21st Century,” are set to captivate 21st-century Korea with their undeniable charm.
MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “The Grand Prince of the 21st Century” premieres on April 10. Its main teaser introduces the beginning of a romance that transcends social status between Sung Hee-joo (played by IU) and Yi An Dae-gun (Byun Woo-seok).
The teaser opens with Sung Hee-joo boldly proposing to Yi An Dae-gun with a confident smile, asking, “Won’t you marry me?”
Sung Hee-joo, a woman with education, courage, and ability who also lacks political ties due to her commoner status, boldly asserts herself. Yi An Dae-gun responds, “It’s irresistible,” and accepts her proposal.

Following Yi An Dae-gun’s command, “Prepare to become the Grand Princess,” Sung Hee-joo and Yi An Dae-gun spend romantic moments together.
As they confidently walk hand in hand under the spotlight and share a waltz at a banquet, they enjoy the attention and exude a romantic atmosphere.
However, tensions rise as forces emerge to oppose their marriage.
Prime Minister Min Jung-woo (No Sang-hyun) pleads with Yi An Dae-gun to distance Sung Hee-joo from the royal family, while Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang (Gong Seung-yeon) urges Min to veto their marriage.
With both Min Jung-woo and Yoon Yi-rang wielding significant power in politics and the royal court, their opposition suggests a challenging journey ahead for the couple. Nevertheless, Sung Hee-joo and Yi An Dae-gun’s faces reveal a newfound excitement.

Despite the opposition, anticipation builds for the chemistry between Sung Hee-joo and Yi An Dae-gun.
The main teaser for “The Grand Prince of the 21st Century” hints at the inevitable conflict between Sung Hee-joo and Yi An Dae-gun, who choose marriage as a means to overcome their destinies, and their opponents Min Jung-woo and Yoon Yi-rang.
Amidst governmental and royal opposition, the successful marriage of Sung Hee-joo and Yi An Dae-gun remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, “The Grand Prince of the 21st Century” has already become a hot topic prior to its premiere. According to Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex, it ranked first in community responses and second on social media in the TV-OTT drama section for the third week of March 2026.
Set in a constitutional monarchy in 21st-century Korea, the drama “The Grand Prince of the 21st Century” tells the story of a chaebol who has everything but is frustrated by her commoner status, and a prince who, despite his royal lineage, possesses nothing. It explores a romance that defies status and airs on Friday, April 10, at 9:40 PM.
