The director of Netflix’s ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ revealed the reasons for casting Jisoo and Seo In-guk.
On the morning of the 26th, a production presentation for Netflix’s ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ was held at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Actors Jisoo, Seo In-guk, and director Kim Jung-sik attended the event.
‘Monthly Boyfriend’ is a romantic comedy about Mi-rae (played by Jisoo), a webtoon PD exhausted by real life, who subscribes to and experiences romantic simulation through a virtual dating program.
During the event, director Kim Jung-sik explained the casting of Jisoo, stating, “In a single work, there is a main character, and there are different themes. Jisoo appears in over 95% of the scenes.”
He added, “She was given diverse settings and characters, and she handled them all. She worked hard and showed that effort can surpass talent. She worked very hard on set, starting and ending with a smile. Her dedication was such that I was even tempted to ask her to join the directing team as an assistant director.”
Regarding Seo In-guk, he said, “By the end of the series, viewers will understand why Seo In-guk was essential for the role,” adding, “Even when not filming, he came to the set to practice with Jisoo, mentored his juniors, and was considerate of his co-stars. When a co-star needed to shine, he knew how to sacrifice himself like a pro.”
‘Monthly Boyfriend’ will be released on Netflix on March 6.
