Netflix series ‘Cashier’ has unveiled its main poster and preview.
‘Cashier’ tells the story of Sang-woong (played by Lee Junho), a salaried worker struggling with wedding expenses and housing costs. He gains a superpower where his physical strength depends on the cash he holds, leading him to balance between living expenses and superpowers in this unique hero story.
The poster prominently features Sang-woong with a bruised face and tattered clothes, looking far from a typical hero. Sang-woong gains the power to become physically stronger with the cash he holds overnight.
The flowing coins and the tagline “Burning through salary to save others, a frugal hero” hint at the life of a hero who must use his earnings to save the world.
Behind him are his surprised girlfriend Min-sook (played by Kim Hye-jun), a lawyer (played by Kim Byung-chul) who can pass through anything when drunk, and Bang Eun-mi (played by Kim Hyang-gi) who exerts telekinesis as she consumes calories. Their upcoming adventures with Sang-woong are intriguing.
The released trailer begins with Sang-woong and Min-sook shocked by the scattering of bills and falling coins as he uses his powers. Sang-woong is frustrated by his new powers, exclaiming, “What kind of joke is this? Just no!” This comical reaction reflects the absurdity and inexplicability life sometimes brings.

Despite Min-sook’s urge not to use his powers since they need to marry and buy a house, Sang-woong continuously encounters situations that require his strength.
Adding to the chaos, the Lawyer, Bang Eun-mi, and members of a criminal society targeting superhumans, like Jonathan (played by Lee Chae-min), Joanna (played by Kang Han-na), and Jo Won-do (played by Kim Eui-sung), further complicate Sang-woong’s life. Sang-woong must burn through his salary and use his powers along with allies who can consume money and alcohol for their super abilities.
Joanna’s line, “Do you know what’s stronger than superpowers in modern society? Capability,” brings a painfully relatable perspective on contemporary priorities of social power and ability. It raises curiosity about how Sang-woong, who needs money to harness his powers, will confront the criminal society.
Sang-woong’s pondering, “How did so many heroes defeat villains while maintaining a family and a job?” enhances anticipation for ‘Cashier’, a hero story grounded in reality.
‘Cashier’ premieres on Netflix on the 26th.
