Disney+’s original series “Made in Korea” premieres today, December 24, unveiling duo posters and promo stills for episodes 1-2.
Set in the 1970s, a time of turmoil and growth in South Korea, “Made in Korea” follows Baek Gi-tae (played by Hyun Bin), a man aiming to reach the pinnacle of wealth and power by using the state as his business model, and Prosecutor Jang Geon-young (played by Jung Woo Sung), who relentlessly pursues Baek with fierce determination, facing monumental events of the era.

Ahead of its premiere, “Made in Korea” builds anticipation with its duo posters that highlight contrasting characters through distinct color schemes, sparking curiosity. Director Woo Min-ho noted, “If Baek Gi-tae is a cold character, Jang Geon-young is a hot one.” The series raises expectations with the powerful clash between two opposing forces and a densely packed narrative.
The preview stills for episodes 1-2 further elevate anticipation, capturing the sharp conflict between businessman Baek Gi-tae, engulfed in immense ambition, and the single-minded prosecutor Jang Geon-young as he hunts down a crime cartel. Baek Gi-tae, seen seated on a plane with a relaxed expression in one still, piques interest, while another still, featuring Baek Gi-tae with intense wiretapping visuals, highlights his ruthless side, eager to achieve his goals by any means.

In contrast, Prosecutor Jang Geon-young, confronting Baek Gi-tae, is depicted in scenes with an entirely different tone, sporting large glasses and a coarse coat that define his character’s presence. A captured face-off scene between the two magnifies their differences, exuding palpable tension. As Baek Gi-tae pursues the apex of wealth and power while leading a double life, and Jang Geon-young faces him against the backdrop of a crime cartel, their first confrontation ignites a fierce clash of desires.
With a meticulous narrative driven by clashing desires, performances by trusted actors, and the outstanding direction of Woo Min-ho, Disney+’s “Made in Korea” is poised to be a strong finale to 2025. Episodes 1-2 are exclusively available on Disney+ today, with two more episodes on December 31, and one episode each on January 7 and 14, totaling six episodes.
