Singer Im Jae-bum revealed the reason behind his retirement announcement.
JTBC’s ‘Sing Again 4’ aired its final episode on the 6th.
Before the final winner was announced, MC Lee Seung-gi asked judge Im Jae-bum, “You mentioned you would leave the stage after your 40th-anniversary concert, which makes us sad. You’re not retiring immediately, as you have more performances, right?”
Im Jae-bum explained, “Many performances are scheduled. I have a Seoul concert remaining, and I must conclude all performances by May this year. So, I am not leaving just yet. I decided to announce my retirement in advance as a courtesy.”
He continued, “It’s not appropriate to discuss such matters on a joyful day. Even though this concerns me, to say I’m retiring due to age…” He paused and added, “For me, ‘Sing Again 4’ has been a meaningful experience. Although today marks the end, it’s the beginning for the featured singers. I ask for your blessings and support for the journey of the audience and viewers.”
Meanwhile, Im Jae-bum had previously made an official retirement announcement on the 4th during a guest appearance on JTBC’s ‘Newsroom,’ stating, “I’ve thought a lot about this. After my 40th-anniversary concert, I plan to leave the stage.”
As he approaches retirement, Im Jae-bum will continue his nationwide tour celebrating his 40th debut anniversary until May.
