IU, who plays Seong Hee-joo, and Byeon Woo-seok, who plays Lee Ahn Daegun, discussed their characters’ relationship and their on-screen chemistry for the new MBC Friday-Saturday drama ’21st Century Grand Princess,’ set to premiere on the 10th.
In the drama, Seong Hee-joo (IU) is a woman who seemingly has everything but is constrained by her commoner status, while Lee Ahn Daegun (Byeon Woo-seok) is a prince who possesses nothing and lives in hiding. They opt for a contract marriage to alter their destinies.
Regarding their relationship, IU described them as ‘each other’s savior,’ while Byeon Woo-seok stated they are ‘inseparable,’ hinting at an unbreakable bond. Their romance, rooted in an indelible connection, promises to be a compelling story.

IU expressed, “I briefly worked with Byeon Woo-seok about 10 years ago, but this time, we are truly partners. It felt comfortable from the script reading. We brought many ideas and encouraged each other on set, building great chemistry.”
