Actor Ji Sung has returned as a judge, five years after his role in ‘The Devil Judge.’
On the 2nd, a production presentation for MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Judge Returns’ was held at the MBC Golden Mouse Hall in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Attending the event were actors Ji Sung, Park Hee-soon, Won Jin-ah, Tae Won-seok, Baek Jin-hee, Oh Se-young, Hwang Hee, and director Lee Jae-jin.
‘The Judge Returns’ is a time-slip drama focusing on Judge Lee Han-young, who, after living as a slave to a giant law firm, returns 10 years to the past to pursue justice through new choices. The drama is based on a work with the same name, originally a web novel with 11.81 million views and a webtoon with 90.66 million views, totaling over 100 million views.
In the drama, Ji Sung plays the role of Judge Lee Han-young, who, after experiencing an unexpected accident, returns from the year 2035 to 2025, facing a turning point in his life.

Ji Sung, returning to a judge role for the first time in five years since tvN’s ‘The Devil Judge,’ stated, “I felt no pressure in deciding to appear in ‘The Judge Returns.’ The two projects are distinctly different, and I believed there were enough unique aspects I could portray, which led to my decision. ‘The Judge Returns’ can be viewed as a story driven by emotions rather than merely a political or court drama,” he explained.
He added, “The story follows Lee Han-young, who, after indulging in corruption and degeneration in a previous life, comes to a realization and decides to forge a new path of justice, effectively separating himself from such darkness.”
MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Judge Returns’ airs its first episode today (2nd) at 9:40 PM.
