TV CHOSUN’s new weekend miniseries ‘Dr. Shin’, set to premiere on March 14, is a medical thriller about a genius doctor who challenges the realm of the divine and a woman whose brain damage overnight causes her to lose her soul. ‘Dr. Shin’ explores the extraordinary romance between a top star in a coma due to an accident and the men who love her, capturing a narrative filled with love, desire, taboos, and sacrifice.
Helmed by writer Pheby, known for her unique imagination, ‘Dr. Shin’ marks her first medical thriller, promising an addictive and sensational story. Director Lee Seung-hoon, who directed ‘Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce)’, joins forces to deliver a captivating ‘Pheby-brand’ medical thriller.
Jung I-chan, Baek Se-ra, Ahn Woo-yeon, Joo Se-bin, Chun Young-min, Song Ji-in, Jeon No-min, and Ji Young-san are set to play key roles in the groundbreaking drama, ‘Dr. Shin’.
Jung I-chan takes on the titular role of genius doctor Shin Joo-shin. In the drama, Shin Joo-shin is the head of neurosurgery at Noua Hospital and the chairman of the Noua Foundation. He is a brain surgery authority who surpasses his late father, Dr. Shin Woo-pil. Known for his captivating performances in ‘Oasis’ and ‘Love Song for Illusion’, Jung I-chan’s first doctor role garners attention.
Baek Se-ra stars as Momo, a top actress at the peak of her career, poised for a happy marriage with Shin Joo-shin (played by Jung I-chan), but her brain gets damaged in an accident, leaving only her body intact. Baek Se-ra’s debut performance is highly anticipated, drawing attention for her refreshing visuals and aura.
Ahn Woo-yeon takes on the role of Ha Yong-jung, Shin Joo-shin’s friend and a successful game developer, embracing a new acting transformation unlike his previous roles in ‘Young Lady and Gentleman’ and ‘Idol Eye’.
Joo Se-bin, recognized for her presence in ‘Fly Again’ and ‘The Empire’, plays Geum Bara, an orphan from the Noua Foundation’s orphanage turned rookie journalist in Sungwoo Daily’s culture department.
Chun Young-min, acknowledged for her acting in films like ‘Morning of the World’ and dramas ‘The Good Detective’, ‘The Devil Judge’, and ‘Night Has Come’, radically transforms as Kim Jin-joo, Momo’s (Baek Se-ra) stylist and a former orphan from the Noua Foundation.
Song Ji-in, who delivered shocking twists as model Ami in ‘Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce)’, adds tension as Hyun Ran-hee, Momo’s (Baek Se-ra) mother and a gallery director, in ‘Dr. Shin’.
Jeon No-min, known for his substantial performances in ‘Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce)’, ‘Durian’s Affair’, and ‘Perfect Marriage Revenge’, plays James, a renowned stylist and the CEO of the company where Kim Jin-joo (Chun Young-min) belongs, adding depth to ‘Dr. Shin’.
Ji Young-san, who gained attention for his bold roles in ‘Love (ft. Marriage & Divorce) 3’ and ‘Durian’s Affair’, reveals new charms as Paul Kim, a Western painter who returns to Korea after working in Germany.
The production team stated that with a blend of fresh and seasoned actors including Jung I-chan, Baek Se-ra, Ahn Woo-yeon, Joo Se-bin, Chun Young-min, Song Ji-in, Jeon No-min, and Ji Young-san, ‘Dr. Shin’ promises to be a rich and engaging drama.
